pyLatinam
Introduction Declension and conjugation are not the only things pyLatinam is planed to do. As the program grows, many other functions will be added - some of them syntax related. The program code is organized according to the Latin grammar rules, but because this is an application at very eary stage of development many bugs will appear. That is why the users are advised to take the outputs with caution. It is important to keep in mind that this is not substitute for the Latin grammar. The application may be useful in learning Latin, but it is essential to consult references. This is a free program, and the source code is availble. If you decide to install the program, please note that in this stage program is not user friendly. If you are not knowledgeable about the Python modules and working with the console, you are strongly encouraged to use the web version of the program. For most users the online version will probably suffice. Interactive Latin GrammarAs mentioned above, there is an online
version of pyLatinam,
and it shows what the program can do. The web interface was not planned
in
such an early stage, but the author needed quick insight
in the grammatical validity of the derived words. The web version seemed
the
fastest to
develop. You are invited to make other interfaces, perhaps GUI for
Windows/Linux, and if this is the case please let me know. Source code and documentationProject pyLatinam is hosted on Google Code. You can grab the code there or browse SVN. To see more about program structure go through the API pages. The pages do not contain the most recent code. Please ignore typos and discrepancy between the code and the documentation - this should be updated with every new release. Updates and new versionsThere's plenty of room for the improvements. These will come soon, but the rate of new versions depends on the spare time the author has. If you are interested you might visit code homepage. More important versions are announced on The Python Package Index, while the newest changes are listed on the wiki page. Most of the changes are functional immediately online: ContactPlease write to info [a] languagebits.com (the address is not clickable because of the spam, please enter it manally while composing).BlogRead more on blog pages about how things are going on. |
